Tomas Höglund is a singer and songwriter, born 1973 in Pietarsaari, Western Finland. He is also a music teacher and a song coach.
Tomas became known to a greater audience for his soulful voice and great interpretations in 2013, as he reached the semifinals in Voice of Finland.
Tomas has a broad experience as a solo singer from singing everything from gospel, blues, jazz and soul to more contemporary pop and rock music with some of the best musicians, bands and choirs in Finland on various record projects and concerts.
Tomas also has a long career as a background singer in many TV-productions and live performances in Finland and abroad. For instance, in 2005 he was a member of the choir in the team representing Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Ukraine. He has also been the director of the Finnish gospel choir, His Master’s Noise, as well as a member of the ensemble of Les Misérables at Helsinki City Theatre.
In february 2015, Tomas Höglund released his first soloalbum, So far so good. In late november he also released a brand new single and musicvideo, Trying not to fake it.
In april 2016 Tomas released a studiolive cover of “Adventure of a lifetime” by Coldplay featuring guitarist Petteri Sariola and drummer Jyri Sariola. In may 2016 the album “So far so good” was released in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
In december 2016 Tomas was doing a Christmas tour “Imagine Christmas” in Finland together with Maria Höglund and Mikael Svarvar and talented musicians as drummers Risto Niinikoski/Tuukka Aitoaho and basplayers Janne Rajala/Stefan “Kilju” Lindblom. The tour was very successful so in 2017 there was a new version of “Imagine Christmas” along with the same bunch of people but with new songs. In 2019 there was a third successful tour of “Imagine Christmas”.
In 2017 – 2020 Tomas was working with Maria Höglund, Susann Sonntag, Kenneth Sonntag and Teddy Granroth with tributeshows to the music of swedish artist Ted Gärdestad. During spring, summer and fall 2018 the group did 10-15 tributeshows around the swedishspeaking part of Finland. Alltogether almost 30 shows given in 2018-2020.
In 2017 Tomas started writing songs for a new studio album with the well known songwriter and producer Niklas Nylund in Porvoo (Borgå) in the southern Finland. In 2020 Tomas released two new singles and 5th March 2021 Tomas released his third single “Stay with me” about the struggles in a relationship – to keep the fire burning through ups and downs and never give up. The uptempo popsong has got 80-90’s rockvibes with a punchy melody and the incredible guitars of Ben Granfelt to match it.
May 6th 2021 was the release date for Tomas Höglund´s new single ”Från noll till 100”. The song is written by Niklas Nylund, Patrick Kivelä and Tomas Höglund and released by Talking Music in Sweden. ”Från noll till 100” is the second single this year and the first single ever in swedish from Tomas. The song in his mother tongue ”Från noll till 100” is also the winner of the Folkhälsan 100th anniversery songwriting contest March 2021 in Finland.
